When I tell people how much weight I have lost, the first thing they ask is “How did you do it?!”
I tell them by cutting portion size, drinking a ton of water, and cutting the fat grams down. Some nod and smile and really understand it. Others look at me like they are waiting for me to let them in on a secret.
I might just start messing with them. Looking around to make sure no one is listening in, I might lean in and say, “I’m going to let you in on a secret. Really, you can eat as much crap as you want and don’t worry about exercise, either. There is this age-old secret that has been passed down through the generations to only a few chosen individuals. It involves unicorns and fairy dust.”
Really, it’s not that hard to figure it out. Eat less calories than your body needs to maintain the weight you are currently at. You can do this by cutting down on calories and/or burning more by moving your body. Macros can come into play. My husband can eat more fat than me and burn off those pounds. On the other hand, I can eat more carbs and do just fine. It’s about finding out what works best for you. But there is no magic weight loss pill.
The hardest part is getting started and staying motivated.
And really, at the end of the day, unicorns and fairy dust just make a mess.
